"He (hear the pronunciation in the Basque language: Txema) was born in Eibar (Gipuzkoa, Basque Country), in 1980, in a region (Debabarrena, word in the Basque language) dedicated to machine-tool.

He studied at La Salle Eibar prior to university entry. He earned a MSc (Master's) degree in Computer Science from the University of the Basque Country, majoring in mobile computing. He has studied MSc degree in Research in Applied Engineering at the University of Navarra (2010). 3 different specialities chosen (industrial electronics, telecommunications, and materials science). He has also studied Graduate certificate on Patents Expert in the Scope of the Company at the University of Mondragon (2011) and MSc degree in Embedded Systems Engineering at the University of the Basque Country (2016) and required (60 credits passed) for a PhD program admission. He completed a Postgraduate course on Development and Integration of Cyber-Physical Systems (next evolution of the Internet of Things) by the Open University of Catalonia (2018). He holds a MSc degree in Blockchain Technologies by the Technical University of Catalonia (2019). He received a MSc degree in Design and Programming of Java JEE Applications at the University of Alcalá (2021). He obtained a Postgraduate course on Software Quality Assurance (QA) by the Technical University of Catalonia (2022). He got a MSc degree in DevOps & Cloud Computing by the Technical University of Catalonia (2023). He has a MSc degree in Cybersecurity by the University of Barcelona (2024, best student). He gained a Formative Module on Assembly of Photovoltaic Solar Installations through the Escola Gremial d'Instal·ladors de Barcelona (2024). He acquired a MSc degree in Digital Transformation of Finance via the University of Barcelona (2025).

Since 2004, he has been employed as a scientific employee in the areas of context-awareness middleware at the University of the Basque Country (6-month scholarship granted by the Gipuzkoan Provincial Council) in the Distributed Systems Group. In addition, he has worked in companies who specialize in communication systems (especially in fieldbus systems such as Modbus), microcontrollers programmed in low-level assembly or high-level C language, FPGAs, and circuits design using VHDL.

Furthermore, he worked at the technological research centre (2-year fellowship, Iñaki Goenaga Technology Centres Foundation), and at INASMET-Tecnalia, in the Aerospace Unit where he worked on the design, manufacture, and validation of prototypes. It corresponds to advanced materials and special manufacturing processes of components for the space sector. During this time, his work focused on metal oxide (MOX) semiconducting gas sensors, and the control of nanoparticle formation or more complex nanostructures such as nanofibers.

Therefore, he also has focused his research on sensors, microsystems also known as MEMS, intelligent systems (Principal Components Analysis, image processing, data mining, etc.), embedded systems (e.g., Internet of Things, Embedded Linux, Real-Time Linux, Java SE/EE, C/C++, Arduino, RFID, etc.), and power electronics (solid-state electronics for the control, conversion and storage of electric power). He attends workshops, conferences, courses as technician, and courses of management to further his knowledge. He is a reviewer for sensor journals (e.g., MDPI Sensors), who is specialized in ammonia, nitrogen oxides, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen detection. He has published articles in this field for Sensors and Actuators B. He is also member of IEEE (#91143431). In fact, he has been accepted as a member of technical committees (TC) of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) such as IEEE IES TC of the Building Automation, Control, and Management, IEEE IES TC on Sensors and Actuators, and IEEE IES TC on MEMS and Nanotechnology. He developed solid-state gas sensors (1-year fellowship, Association of Friends of the University of Navarra), at CEIT (Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Técnicas de Gipuzkoa)-IK4, Microelectronics and Microsystems Section. A reason is because real-time information on the composition of combustion gases is important for improving efficiency (e.g., in the exhaust system of diesel engines), controlling gas quality, and reducing emissions. He has experience in microfabrication techniques in a clean-room environment (PVD, CVD, RIE, photolithography, wet etching, etc.), and sensor structural and electrical characterization.

With these ideas, he is founding (starting) Ikersens (Ikertu plus sentsoreak: words in the Basque language), a company and in narrow collaboration with other partners. His aim is to use his expertise and know-how, gained through the experience. In fact, the creation of new companies to commercialize the results from research, especially in high-tech areas, has become an important objective in Europe. Ikersens has been innovating recently in the field of sensors (e.g., for controlling hydrogen concentration), machine learning, wireless sensor networks, electronic subcontracting, and embedded computer systems with soft core CPU for space applications. Its aims include creating a multidisciplinary and industry-oriented research grouping in that field. In the past, he had experience working with technology start-up companies too. He is interested in obtaining knowledge on project management at University of Mondragon.

Likewise, in one hand, he also implemented a Google's Android application for Robotiker-Tecnalia. It can be used as an application (app) for smartphones, netbooks and tablets. Advanced research includes use of controlled environments containing any number of sensors and actuators. Moreover, he took part in Ideko-IK4, in the Dynamics and Control Department where he was involved in the resolution of vibration problems and dynamic design of machines and drives. On the other hand, he moved to Barcelona (Catalonia). He did a research stay in the Automatic Control Department at the Technical University of Catalonia. Here, he designed and implemented real-time distributed control systems. For example, for automotive industry. When he just finished the stay, he returned to Basque Country and he worked for Tecnalia. He was in charge of software modules design and development to support intelligent transportation system (ITS) applications of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I). In order to help in the reduction of the social and economic costs of road traffic.

He was an embedded software engineer at CAF (literally "Construction & Auxiliary of Railways") multinational group. He was improving the performance of the TCMS (Train Control and Monitoring System) using Real-Time Linux (e.g., PREEMPT_RT and Xenomai approaches). He moved for quality of life to Barcelona city centre. He was the responsible of the Industrial IoT Cybersecurity Laboratory at Eurecat, technological research centre. As a researcher, he also gave technical support to automotive line. He worked as a (train) software developer for Alstom, multinational company. He worked as a (train) cybersecurity engineer for Alstom as Capgemini employee. His work interests are focused around project development for industry. He applies his expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve techniques, procedures, products, or technologies. He is always eager to engage in EU and foreign collaborations. Consequently, he has developed professionally in competitive sectors such as industrial automation (IK4, Capgemini and La Salle-URL), automotive (Tecnalia and Eurecat), railway (CAF and Alstom) and aerospace (Tecnalia).

He is already an experienced embedded software, blockchain, Java, QA, DevOps, cloud computing, cybersecurity, energy, fintech and research engineer. Currently, he is a cybersecurity research scientist at La Salle-URL. Moreover, he is pursuing a MSc degree in Big Data & Data Science via the University of Barcelona. He has found in the education sector a quicker, diverse and motivating way of learning (by doing). In his spare time, he enjoys doing his hobbies (see left column, hobbies) and working on Lego Mindstorms projects with his eldest niece."
