2012 The Alan Turing Year

Alan Turing (1912-1954) was highly influential in the development of computer science, providing a formalisation of the concepts of "algorithm" and "computation" with the Turing machine. He is widely considered to be the father of computer science and artificial intelligence. He was one of the few people of his time that realized the influence that computers could have on society.
